Block Layouts with the Skinr Module and Adaptivetheme

This video tutorial shows you how to use the Skinr module with Adaptivetheme, an advanced starter theme for Drupal.

First you need to download and install the Skinr module (use the -dev version). Adaptivetheme will automatically start using the Skinr module.

In this video we concentrate on the grids classes that are provided by Adaptivetheme (defined in the its info file), and we use them to create layout 4 blocks horizontally, and then we go on to configure a more advanced block layout for the sidebar.

Usage

1. Place some blocks into a region
2. Configure each block - there will be a new feildset on the block config page where you can set the width for the block - blocks will automatically start lining up (floating left).

skinr help

Thak you for providing this very flexible theme, and I realize that providing support for skinr may be beyond the scope of supporting your theme, but...

I've seen a few tutorials on adding skinr references to the .info file, however this doesnt seem to make the items added show up under "theme-specific settings." Is there another way to access skinr functionality besides theme-specific settings, or is there another step to make it show up there?

There is no configuration for

There is no configuration for Skinr, its all done via the info file for your theme, Skinr will automagically start using what you have defined in the info file. Download the AT starter theme to see at how it works in our theme - http://drupal.org/project/adaptivetheme, its pretty advanced stuff mate, if you're not a themer then give it some time to learn how it works.

Can you give me the direct

Can you give me the direct link to the AT Starter theme? I don't seem to be able to locate it on that page.

...

The download link is at the bottom of the page http://drupal.org/project/adaptivetheme

I don't want to hard code a link at that will be to a specific version, later we will upgrade and the link will be out of date.

OK, great, sometimes themes can get "disabled" but still show when you run update (when updating modules etc). Its a common thing.

REALLY EASY :-)

Thank for another great video tutorial, easy to follow and learn.
I wonder if there is any REALLY EASY :-) way to use the Admin theme in front end?

@#8

Actually, there sort of is, if you copy and paste the at-admin.css into your theme.css file, it will mostly just work ;)

I've tried it and it does work, but not really tested it out to any extent.

Off topic question. How do

Off topic question. How do you create your rounded boarders for IE?

@10, use images or jQuery - those are your only real options.

Skinr

Would you still recommend using Skinr these days with AT Corolla?

If not, what methods would you use for 'skinning'?

Thanks for any advice.
